I am SO elated to share with you all a very special blog post this week, surrounding English country decor! I visited a friend’s apartment recently, and wow, WOW! Truly, I believe you will be totally inspired by her apartment’s cozy and intimate space. I was so honored she left me take photos to feature in my blog, so I can share with you all the tips and tricks to achieve a similar theme in your own space! What Is English Country Decor?
The English country style provides an intimate and natural feel to a room. This theme is beloved by many as an inviting space to which you want to sit down to a cup of tea and settle in with a book.
The key to recreating the beloved style of English country is commonly achieved by styling a room with a wide variety of pieces. These pieces are usually collected over time and are not uniform by nature. Think eclectic! These decor pieces will typically not match each other like other styles would encourage. You’ll find the well-designed space of my friend’s apartment is not structured in a uniformed way. Rather her room feels like a cozy and informal space with beautiful treasures placed thoughtfully throughout the apartment. Each treasure is unique, eye-catching, and yet maintains harmony by tying together three colors: Gold, blue, and white. Furthermore, the style is also widely known for showcasing nature throughout the space with flowers and various plants.

When I walked in the space, I was immediately in awe of the eye-catching gallery she created! The placement was thoughtful and frame sizes and colors were absolutely beautiful! Her living room space was absolutely divine! The room looked like it was primed and ready to be staged on the front cover of a magazine! The airy nature of the apartment felt like the perfect setting for afternoon tea. When I shared my appreciation to my friend’s well-designed home, she said, “If your home is not a beautiful place where you can just be then it is just another stressor in your life.”

I just adored her dining room area! I did my best to find similar pieces that was showcased throughout this space. However, a lot of these lovely items are selected from thrift stores or are family heirlooms! So again, don’t feel the pressure to recreate this space exactly, and make your personal stamp on your home.

How To Decorate In English Style?
The English Country theme is such a fun style to design for your apartment or home! This theme encourages collecting vintage treasures, family heirlooms, and intermixing them with florals and light colors.

The two styles are incredible similar and both have the ‘family heirloom’ & vintage inspired theme throughout the space. You can even create a space that is a mix between English and French country. Elle Decor, author of the blog post, “What Is A French Country Kitchen Verses An English Country Country Kitchen?“, wrote ‘While French country decor usually involves farm animals and small birds, English wall decor typically includes hunting scenes with dogs and horses. [English] also showcases botanical prints and nature prints.’ You’ll find this rings true when you research into the two different styles.
My friend’s English country decor had small details of butterflies on curtains, flowers placed throughout the space, marble statue, and gave many nods to nature which is very classic to the English country theme. However, remember that you may have a blend of both these themes in a space to create your own unique style! My friend also had lovely little birds and a bird cage staged, so I want you to feel motivated to make the space your OWN! Don’t be restricted by a rule book and enjoy the adventure of creating a home just for you.
