Fall is just around the corner, my friends! With the cool, fall breeze in the air, all I want to do is brew myself some warm tea and relish in seasonal bliss.

I adore all of the seasons but fall has my heart and soul like no other. Friends, this is our season! My mom is a fellow fall girly and she’s come out with the craziest, CUTEST farmhouse fall decor I’ve seen yet from her! In her new house, she’s been decorating away and figuring out what her style will be in this new house, and she appears to be settling well into the farmhouse style. However, by now you should know my mom! She truly takes autumn to a whole new level.

The farmhouse decor style has been in for a while now, but I can tell you it’s not going away anytime soon. The Farmhouse style has may have a new sister aesthetic coming in called ‘modern farmhouse’, but the look remains popular for a reason. The style is a timeless classic, and you can put your own spin on the decor just like my mom did! She loves a cozy home with bright colors that tell the viewer what season we’re in and it works really well for her home. However, should you enjoy a simplistic / minimalistic look then you can take a peek at the modern farmhouse aesthetic and put your own spin on it! 😉

Farmhouse Fall Decor Ideas for Living Room

When I step into my mom’s living room, I just want to cozy up to some hot cocoa and watch Little Women or Gilmore Girls! Her house creates such a welcoming, cozy space while still looking elegant and classy. I feel her farmhouse fall decor makes the space light and airy even on the gloomier days of the season.

I love how she plays with the white tones throughout the space. I feel this color makes the reds and oranges stand out all the more. My mom purchased these knitted blankets from QVC a long time ago, and it doesn’t look like they sell them anymore. 🙁 However! I did some digging and found you a similar style if you want a knitted throw! The pillow is difficult to find now, but I found a look that gives off the same airy farmhouse vibes for you here!

I always recommend making your tv become part of the decorations. If I hadn’t turned on the fall, fireplace ambiance, it would have just been a black box of nothing! This adds to the aesthetic and the gentle music sets a calming mood.

How To Decorate for Farmhouse Style with Shelves

The rules for decorating for the farmhouse look is no different from other styles. You still want to follow aesthetically pleasing rules that look functional and enjoyable to the eye. Example above shows shelves, shelves, and more shelves! Agh! I love that her furniture gives her shelf space to decorate! And she does such a good job at elevating them too! You’ll notice my mom put the bigger / heavier items at the bottom and then placed smaller / lighter looking decor at the top.

Meanwhile, the middle shelf acts as a break point between heavy and lighter looking decorations. The middle shelf still fills up the space but utilizing a series of smaller decor items rather than one big item. This method looks more pleasing to the eye when transitioning your gaze from bottom to top.
