What Happens At A Baby Shower
This is the party where everyone attending is coming to celebrate the mom-to-be. The typical staple to a classic baby shower is party games, socializing, and giving gifts to the expectant mother. Modern day parties now include both male and female guests, but you can still host an all ladies party if that is your preference.
Games can be a LOT of fun to do at a baby shower, but they are NOT a requirement at all. In this blog post, we’ll go over picking a baby shower theme, games we recommend, as well as a cute outfit you can wear if you’re the mom-to-be.
Pick A Baby Shower Theme
First order of business is to pick a theme! You can choose a seasonal theme like ‘Baby in Bloom’ for spring or choose a specific character theme such as ‘Peter the Rabbit’! The baby shower theme my mom chose went along with the fall season ‘little pumpkin on the way’, but I’ll offer a list of baby party themes for you to choose from here:

BABY SHOWER PARTY DRINKS
This fun idea that was inspired by a bridal shower we attended where they provided a lovely variety of fruit to add to your drink! It made everything so aesthetically pleasing!
My mom took a shirley temple SevenUp and mixed it with a regular SevenUp and combined it with lemonade. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have an exact recipe I can provide you because she made the drink to taste. She recommends you mix everything in a small cup first to figure out the ratio before committing to adding everything into a large beverage dispenser.
BABY SHOWER FOOD IDEAS
You can choose to provide a full meal, or you can have a variety of snacks on hand for your guest! How much you choose to feed your guests really depends on what time you want to host the party. We hosted at 2PM which allowed us to provide light snacks / refreshments. I’ll provide you a list of finger foods and desserts we had at the party:

Consider having a display of all the games you intend to play at your party up front, so your guests can read and know what to expect ahead of time. I’ll go over a few of the games we played at my baby shower and any tips we have for running them.
Don’t Say Baby
Everyone loved the classic ‘Don’t Say Baby’, but I have a good tip my mom implemented to which our guests really appreciated! The game didn’t start until AFTER everyone received their food and ate. This was a nice twist, so everyone could speak freely over dinner without restriction over the word ‘baby’. This party tip allowed everyone to relax and get to know each other without having to be cautious of their words immediately.
Candies Are In The Jar
How many candies are in the jar is a classic game for any baby shower! I love how my mom aimed to keep this game on theme by adding candy corn and pumpkins to fit the fall vibes. You can do this too by adding in candy that matches the theme to your event!
Diaper Raffle
Diaper raffles are a fan favorite AND SUPER HELPFUL TO LAUNCH YOUR DIAPER COLLECTION!!! Loving this adorable diaper raffle box that came with on branded cards for the guests to write their names on! This company does a wide variety of themes, so check out their listing and see if you can spot a raffle box that matches your theme!
How Big Is Mom’s Belly
Ha! This game has a love hate relationship with me! You have to measure your belly, and the guests have to guess how big your belly is. The closest person wins a prize. I teased that I want a prize for the most accurate person AND the person who guessed the smallest measurement. lol I suggest you measure your belly before you’ve had a lot of food, so you get an accurate number.
BABY SHOWER PARTY DRESS
This is the dress I wore to my baby shower, and the cut / style is so flattering and SUPER comfortable! Worth Collective has a few different colors that come in and out of stock, so I highly recommend you keep an eye out for when they come back in stock! The band around the dress is super stretchy and can potentially take you into your third trimester comfortably!
