You may think you’ve already come up with your theme because you’re making your baby shower a tea party. However, there’s actually a lot of questions you need to ask in order to truly nail down the style of that tea party theme.

  • Are all of the teacups and serving pieces going to come from the same collection? Or will you include a conglomerate of teacups and teapots from various collections with different patterns?
  • What will your color palette be? – I just adored the pink, green and white tones my family chose!
  • Do you want your tea party theme to be…
    • Vintage
    • Country
    • Elegant
    • Girly and simple (this style may involve more cartoonish decor pieces)
    • Japanese themed
    • Boho-chic
    • Fairytale-magic

The nicety of hosting a tea party theme is you can choose to feed your guests a full meal or provide enjoyable desserts like macaroons! My family chose to serve a main course as well as delightful finger food! Everything was extremely delicious.

What you serve is typically determined by the time of day you start your event.

  • Macaroons
  • Scones
  • Fruit Tarts
  • Finger sandwiches (cucumber sandwiches)
  • Clotted Cream & Jam
  • Mini Quiches
  • Cakes & Pastries
  • Tarts
  • Truffles

I thoroughly fell in LOVE with what my family did for the drinks at our baby shower! We had a wide range of ages attending this event, so hot tea wasn’t actually practical. Particularly for the little toddlers and kids coming, so they served lemonades with flavors like strawberry lemonade. Not to mention keeping the tea hot is a challenge when you’re also trying to host party games. In my humble opinion…this was a brilliant tea party hack to consider!

I’ll include a tasty lemonade recipe idea by Laylita’s recipes when you click here.

When considering the location of the baby shower, you’ll heavily weigh in on the season you’ll be hosting in. For people who are hosting during the cold or rainy season, it’s a no brainer to bring the tea party indoors.

However, we forget that even sunny days can turn for the worse such as wind, impromptu rain, or just too much heat. Ensure you have a plan B for these kinds of situations.

  • Backup location (ensure you update your guests as soon as you know you have to use your secondary location)
  • Small pop-up canopy or large party tent for sudden rain or an overly hot day
  • A wind guards such:
    • Retractable outdoor curtains on a track
    • Tall hedges or trees
    • Gazebo side panels

Baby shower games are optional when hosting a shower for the mother-to-be, but I personally feel that are so much fun to include! Should you decide to opt out of doing baby shower games, I do still recommend you include a diaper raffle as this can be extremely helpful in setting up the young couple with diapers!

When creating invitations, you can choose to send digital invitations or physical ones! Below is a sample example as well as a bullet point list of what you’ll want to include on your invitation.

  • Dress code (optional)
  • Party games guests have to prep for in advance like diaper raffle.

There was no way I was going to pass up the opportunity to share the beautiful tablescape my family put together! I especially love the added details of the pearls and flowers laced across the table as well as the teacup decor! I’ll drop the beautiful party pictures below for you.

These are a couple of dresses either I or some of my girlfriends can personally vouch for as we wore these lovely designs for our own baby shower.
