Happy Resurrection Day!
Happy Resurrection and Easter to you all! I pray your Sunday is going to be wonderful with friends and family! This is the time of year I strive to reflect on why we’re celebrating this day and how the greatest miracle ever made just happened. You may be like me and being a busy bee preparing to host the Sunday meal. You may be the focal point everyone is coming to, to get together and celebrate. With that comes a lot of excitement, but also a lot of responsibilities. I love decorating with bunnies and carrots and having a beautiful theme at our Sunday dinner. I rush to the store with my husband to buy the food, gather the decorations, and stage everything the night before so I can have some semblance of a slower Sunday. It won’t happen as there’s still cooking to do and getting any last-minute details accomplished.
However, I want you to urge you to take even 20 minutes to pause and be present with the Lord. Remember why this day isn’t about decorations, perfectly prepared food, or even the meal itself, but it’s about the greatest sacrifice that ever happened on this Earth.
It’s beautiful to settle in the thought that Jesus’s died on the cross for you and me. I’m far from perfect, but I am thankful God loves me and forgives me of my sins. Enough to send His only begotten son to die on the cross for me and everyone around me who believes.
To all the men and women who are hosting this Sunday and running around knocking the to-do list out of the park, I urge you to pause and take a moment for yourself. Striving to make everyone feel loved, welcomed, and cherished is a mighty gift you have. However, us host and hostesses have to take a moment for ourselves to remember why we’re doing all of this. Who is the ultimate one that gives us a reason to even come together? Who gave us the most spectacular gift of all.
So from my family to yours, I wish you a great big happy Resurrection Day!! May the Lord bless you and your family!
